Contaminated Gas
Representing the injured, the wronged and their families
The law firm of Cory Watson Crowder and DeGaris, P.C., has filed a class action lawsuit against Shell Oil Company; Shell Oil Products Company; Shell Oil Products Company, L.L.C.; Motiva Enterprises, L.L.C., dba Norco Refining Company; Equilon Enterprises, L.L.C.; and Saudi Refining, Inc.
The suit, which was filed on behalf of all Alabama residents, seeks to compensate class members for damage to their vehicles, resulting from the distribution and sale of gasoline contaminated with excessively high levels of sulfur beginning in late May of 2004. The most common reported damage is malfunction of a vehicles fuel gauge. The problem came to light after drivers began complaining about inaccurate fuel-gauge readings.
Just before Memorial Day weekend, in May 2004, more than 660 Shell and Texaco stations in the South stopped selling gasoline because of high sulfur levels that can ruin vehicle fuel gauges and make an empty tank appear full. Sulfur corrosion in a vehicles fuel system can cause inaccurate fuel-gauge readings. The damage done by the contaminated gasoline could cause some drivers to run out of gas unexpectedly. Also, car owners may have to replace their fuel-gauges, a repair job that can easily cost $400 to $1200.
The pending class action seeks relief on behalf of all Alabama residents whose vehicles were damaged after purchasing the contaminated gasoline. If you purchased Shell gasoline during late May or early June 2004 and you have experience problems with your vehicles fuel-gauge as a result, you are a potential class member. Our Contaminated Gasoline Litigation Team is actively engaged in seeking compensation for consumers who purchased contaminated gasoline. Ernest Cory, is pursuing the Contaminated Gasoline Litigation Statewide.
