Refer Your Defective Medtronic Heart Device Lead Wire Cases

On October 15, 2007, Medtronic removed its Sprint Fidelis® heart defibrillator cardiac leads from the market after reports surfaced that linked the devices to patient deaths. The Medtronic Sprint Fidelis is an electrical wire that connects implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) to the heart. This wire is called a “lead.” Defibrillators (ICDs) monitor the rhythm of the heart and will deliver an electric shock directly to the heart if it gets out of rhythm.

The cardiac leads in question are placed on the heart’s muscles and then attached to an ICD. These Sprint Fidelis cardiac leads, however, may fracture and either 1) deliver unnecessary, painful, and life-threatening shocks to people who have them implanted in their chests or 2) cause the ICD to deplete its battery reserve and fail to deliver necessary therapy.

The Sprint Fidelis lead wires have been in use since September 2004 and Medtronic said 235,000 people have these Sprint Fidelis cardiac leads in their bodies. The effected models are in the Sprint Fidelis “family” of Medtronic leads. The effected model numbers are 6930, 6931, 6948, 6949 and these encompass ALL Sprint Fidelis models.

Cory Watson is currently reviewing cases for filing. We are interested in helping those individuals who have been seriously affected by these faulty Medtronic lead wires and are analyzing all claims where a Sprint Fidelis lead wire was, or is currently, implanted.

Our law firm has extensive medical and scientific material as well as intake and client screening packets available upon request. Attorney Jon Conlin is heading up this litigation. Please direct any questions you have to him or to medtronic_lead@cwcd.com.
