Breast Implants Linked to Cancer

Cory Watson is representing clients who have been diagnosed with cancer related to breast implants. Over the past 25 years, we have represented 2,300 women with breast implant related injuries.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports breast implants have been linked to a rare form of cancer known as Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). FDA reported nine deaths associated with BIA-ALCL. The rare cancer is associated with both saline and silicone breast implants.

The FDA issued an update on ALCL cancer cases associated with breast implants on March 21, 2017, stating it has received 359 medical device reports including nine deaths associated with BIA-ALCL. ALCL is a lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system.

Symptoms of BIA-ALCA:

– Lumps
– Fluid buildup and swelling around implant site
– Pain

BIA-ALCL has been identified most frequently in patients undergoing implant revision operations due to fluid buildup, hardening, or mass. Implant removal may eliminate the cancer, but some patients have needed chemotherapy and radiation to treat the cancer. If you develop symptoms of BIA-ALCL, contact your physician immediately.
